A virtual machine on a usb hard drive.(Not a lame ass thumb drive something that holds hundreds of gigs and it'll be around 50-80 dollars.
Now vmware charges themselves but if your a student in IT it's free
By the way vmware workstation is the program required to run the virtual machines. There is no cheap way around this.
You do not want the virtual machine on the pc you want it separate from it.
